What Students Say

I wish more math classes were taught like this because it's so much fun, it's so engaging, and it's real world math!
I’ve probably preached this book to 20 different people because this is literally the coolest math book I've ever had. I show people who aren't math people the activites and they get it no problem.
The textbook was uniquely valuable. It is the most creative and helpful learning tool I have ever had in a mathematics course. It emphasized the why and how with short physical analogs. More math and science teachers need to follow this model for textbooks – always with more emphasis on the how and why of a concept.
I loved the use of the calculus journals and thought they were a great way to learn this course's content. It was unique and interactive and am glad I got a chance to experience it.

About Us

The Deconstruct Team originated from The College of Charleston mathematics department, but like dandelions in the wind, we have dispersed to spread the idea that math can be fun and creative. The head author, Dr. Amy Langville, still resides in Charleston, SC and teaches business calculus (Calc I-III) every semester, which originally gave rise to this workbook series.
